At the '84th Memorial Ceremony for Patriots' Day' held by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs at Seodaemun Independence Park in Seoul on the morning of the 17th, Mr. Baekbeom Kim Gu digitally restored and read a memorial speech. The ceremony, held under the theme of 'A Promise That Cannot Be Forgotten', was attended by approximately 300 people including bereaved families of independence activists, key government officials, and future generations.
The digital Mr. Baekbeom Kim Gu presented at the event utilized the digital human of the national project jointly conducted by the Acryl Consortium (Acryl, Viv Studios, and Level Nine), in which the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and AI specialist company Acryl participated.
On the 20th, Acryl explained, "This is the first case of digital humans being officially utilized in the field of national veterans affairs," and "In particular, the digital Baekbeom Kim Gu presented that day comprehensively applied the latest technologies such as 3D motion graphics and generative artificial intelligence to further enhance the precision and naturalness of digital human restoration. Baekbeom Kim Gu's voice was restored to its real voice through artificial intelligence."
Starting with this event, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the Acryl Consortium plan to actively utilize the restored digital humans for national events such as March 1st Independence Movement Day and Liberation Day. They also plan to promote offline exhibitions and the development of educational and cultural content. Acryl stated, "We aim to have Baekbeom Kim Gu, restored through artificial intelligence, interact naturally with us today," and "Once completed, we expect it to be utilized in various ways, such as in history education and other national events."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to restore three independence activists as digital humans this year and create more independence activists as digital humans in the future.
