Park Oe-jin, CEO of Acryl, “We will lead the digital hospital with practical LLM”

ML Ops specialist Acryl (CEO Park Oe-jin) announced that it is launching its LLM Ops service ‘A-reum (A-LLM)’ and entering the healthcare sector.

CEO Park Oe-jin said on the 22nd, “Based on our experience in the healthcare industry, we will release a large language model (LLM) that operates in a new way by reflecting the needs of the field,” and “We will challenge LLM Ops that builds practical models beyond existing ML Ops.”

A-reum is a private LLM service that helps with data processing, fine-tuning, and service construction. It is being built based on Acryl’s representative AI development platform ‘Jonathan.’

CEO Park said, “We are aiming for a launch in July or August,” and added, “We have confirmed the installation of ChatGPT, Claude, and Lama, and are also open to the possibility of collaboration with promising domestic and foreign models.” It has added Acryl’s specialized technologies such as generation, summary, and conversation as well as augmented search generation (RAG).

Regarding targeting medical institutions or digital hospitals, he explained, “The areas where LLM introduction is most urgent and in high demand are medical, disaster, and public sectors that are directly related to people’s lives.”

Since last year, Acryl has been working on standardizing medical data, including installing the AI medical information system ‘NADIA’ at a public hospital in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. During this process, he said that he experienced areas where even EMR (electronic medical records) were not widespread, and focused more on underprivileged areas. He also introduced that Uzbekistan is very active in digital transformation.

“Just like when the document computerization craze first began, Uzbekistan is currently focusing on introducing AI,” he said. “They are using Nadia and voluntarily providing feedback.”

Through this, they are reflecting the needs of actual users, such as formats optimized for the local area or interfaces (UI) according to document type. He explained, “Private AI is ultimately something that both parties create together.”

Based on this response, they plan to expand the introduction sites in the future. Uzbekistan is being used as a springboard to explore the neighboring Central Asian region. Discussions are already underway with several private hospitals, in addition to public hospitals.

Established in 2011, Acryl is a leading ML Ops company that has been responsible for the ‘full cycle’ from data labeling to service construction and operation.

It already released the multimodal data integration labeling tool ‘Jonathan Marker’ in 2018 and utilized it in the ‘Data Construction Project’ promoted by the Korea Intelligence Information Society Agency (NIA).

Last year, it also introduced a technology that determines abuse situations, etc. based on child counseling data (in voice and text format). This method analyzes the child’s voice or conversation content through an AI speaker. It was reported by the three terrestrial broadcasters in October as the ‘first child abuse case discovered by AI. ’

It emphasized that “practicality is the most important thing for data and AI.” This is also why it entered the healthcare field.

In particular, he stated that the reality is that there is no suitable data processing process for each domain and business, and that simply introducing a public LLM such as ChatGPT will not achieve optimal performance.

CEO Park Oe-jin emphasized, “Quality is ultimately a matter of how much it reflects the voices of the field and real life,” and “Acryl will always insist on high quality without being arrogant.”
