"Reliving the Spirit of Independence Through Digital Innovation" – Acryl Brings Kim Gu, Ahn Jung-geun, and Yun Bong-gil to Life

Acryl (CEO Jin Park), an AI technology company, announced on the 28th that it had produced and broadcast a media art video featuring AI-based digital humans of prominent independence activists, including Kim Gu, to commemorate the 85th Patriotic Martyrs’ Day. The video was displayed on the K-Culture Screen at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History in November.

This project is part of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' initiative to build a "Patriotic Figures AI-Based Digital Human Content Platform." The initiative aims to use 3D digital human technology to honor the sacrifices of independence activists and promote their enduring legacy.

Under the theme "The Path Where Independence Aspires Converge," the video features digital human recreations of Kim Gu, Ahn Jung-geun, and Yun Bong-gil, delivering a poignant message about Korea’s fight for independence.

The narrative captures the dramatic journey of independence activists breaking through a tumultuous era to pursue freedom. Ahn Jung-geun’s resolute actions brought hope to a nation in darkness, while Yun Bong-gil’s defiant bombing shattered the walls of despair, expressing an unyielding yearning for freedom. Finally, under the leadership of Kim Gu, the fragmented nation united to embrace the light of liberation.

Acryl stated, “Through this creative direction, we aimed to vividly portray the noble sacrifices, indomitable spirit, and ultimate triumph of the independence movement. This project not only commemorates the heroes of Korea’s independence but also leverages AI to offer the public an immersive historical experience.”

The "Patriotic Figures AI-Based Digital Human Content Platform" project uses historical archives to create digital humans powered by AI, providing a realistic and engaging way to experience history. Acryl revealed plans to expand the initiative by developing digital humans for more independence activists in the future.

The project was executed by the Acryl consortium, which includes Acryl, VIVE Studios, and Level9. Acryl utilized its proprietary all-in-one AI platform, JONATHAN, to develop the digital human technology. JONATHAN is a comprehensive MLOps (Machine Learning Operations) platform that supports the full lifecycle of AI services, from development to deployment. It also includes LLMOps (Large Language Model Operations) capabilities for effectively managing large language models.

Through this initiative, Acryl and its partners aim to preserve and share the legacy of Korea’s independence heroes, ensuring their sacrifices are remembered and appreciated by future generations.
